The most amazing thing happened to me yesterday. I was invited to attend the Ciroc Empowered Brunch honoring the mastermind of FashionBombDaily.com, Claire Sulmers (among others), as a guest of Claire! It was 9 PM when I got the news, my hair was a mess, my nails had become half-blue, half-acrylic, and I had no idea what to wear. Somehow I managed to curl my hair, get to the nail salon at 9 AM and pull it together.
Coco Note: If you don't know who Claire is or what FBD is, get your life.
I was beyond excited and slightly nervous about this event, but from the moment I arrived, I was blown away. I sat next to Senior Fashion Editor of Elle.com, Nikki Ogunnaike, I sat back-to-back with celebrity stylist and mastermind behind Angela Simmons' fabulous looks, Kanayo Ebi, and right next to the guest-of-honor herself, Claire Sulmers.
As amazing as that was, it was the group of women at my table, many of whom were succeeding in industries other than fashion, that truly made this empowerment brunch as bomb as can be. They were from various states and countries, various disciplines, of various heights, shapes and sizes, but they all had hearts of chocolate gold.
The conversations were amazing, the food was good and the drinks were AMAZING! Thank you to Claire Sulmers and Ciroc for allowing Fashion Bomb Daily readers to be part of the discussion, to literally have a seat at the table and be empowered by phenomenal women.
Now let's get into this look baby.
@@Coco Note: It's not enough to show up, you gotta show out.@@
That being said, this teal, velvet skirt with ruching at the sides and scoop hem at the bottom had to be worn. The color and texture of this skirt are so rich, I knew I needed a soft and delicate top to make this brunch-appropriate.
I scattered for a top to wear with this skirt. Thank God for Forever 21 in Time Square because best believe I was in that checkout line at 12:30 AM Friday night. The sleeves give it a trendy, 70's vibe, but it has a classic and sophisticated feel that was very brunch-appropriate.
Though the focal point of this look is definitely the skirt, I would be remiss if I did not acknowledge these rings. Something about chunky, gold and stone rings just scream opulence, indulgence and wealth. I love wearing a bunch of big, gold rings at one time. The touches of pink in the stones was the perfect hue to balance the richness of the skirt. If you find that to be extra, maybe this look isn't for you. If you don't, welcome home.
@@Obviously, I needed the right shoes for this moment. Hello.@@
