Day 25?! Wait. How did we get here?
This is a look inspired by Olivia's Prada houndstooth coat in Episode 9 of Season 4, Where the Sun Don't Shine.
Although this is a very simple look, it definitely makes a statement. As I mentioned before, houndstooth is a classic print and a wardrobe staple. It is, in my opinion, the most sophisticated print. When working with classic prints, you want to stick to classic silhouettes. I love that this particular coat features a crew neck collar.
In the epic Vermont episode, we see Olivia dressed in another houndstooth coat (this time by Dior), but with a longline blazer-cut and in A-line silhouette. still a classic silhouette, but with a slight twist twist. This look definitely signifies getting back to or being about your business. It is just enough femininity with just enough bawsiness.
This particular houndstooth jacket is kind of like a mix between the two, it has both the classic crewneck and print-size of the first, and the flared skirt and large buttons of the second. In both looks, Liv dons a tote bag and black trousers, and a thin black leather belt to cinch her waist, so I chose to follow suit. A pointy-toed suede boot completes the look.
Since Liv usually lets her outfit do the talking, I also kept makeup and jewelry simple, with neutral eyeshadow, straight hair and flipped bangs, pink/nude lips and small studs.
Coco Note: Are Olivia Pope's ears even pierced?!
