If you follow me on Snapchat (you should be, but if you're not let's rectify that now), you probably know that one of my favorite ways to shake up my work wardrobe is with pieces that can easily go from day-to-night. Today, I figured I'd show you one of the basics, the little black dress, or as I affectionately refer to it, the LBD.
We all know how crucial the LBD is when it comes to having a complete wardrobe. With so many styles available and so many applicable occasions, be sure to go for the most versatile options when choosing your LBD.
This backless tank dress is a perfect option, because it can be dressed up with heels or dressed down with sandals or Keds, and can be layered for more a office-friendly or family-friendly look. I've paired it with a blazer, a floor-length cardigan and a denim jacket before. This time, I decide to add some edge with this black-and-white long vest that has me saying "Straight Outta Compton" all morning. Plaid is a great pattern for layering, because it has the dimension we're looking for without the over-complication. It also is pretty much a badass classic.
The color palette is pretty simple, I added just a touch of green in the shoes, but otherwise this is a pretty neutral look. The thing about working with neutral tones is, you can add dimension through textures, patterns and prints. The black & white plaid and green & black snakeskin work together because they are not competing.
I've finally come up with a term for my style & my propensity for AND instead of OR. Enter MAXIMALIST. Thus, this chunky bib necklace needed to be worn.
