Welcome to the 4th Quarter. Apply pressure.
There's something about the 4th Quarter, the last 3 months of the year, that applies, and forces me to apply, an undeniable pressure. It might be the changing seasons, the fact that I was born right in the middle of it or the impending end of the year. Regardless of your motivation, the 4th Quarter is where the game is won. Get in, and apply pressure.
That's exactly what we're doing right hurr.
"Go Gina, go get that get right mama..."
If I had to choose one word to describe this look, it would definitely be "jiggy." It's not a word you hear often and Urban Dictionary even has it defined as "a played out slang term" from the 90s, but given the full-on 90s vibes I'm providing, I'd say it's the perfect word.
Coco Note: Ain't nothin' played out about this, baby.
The Versace-style silk blouse (or dress) has become an Instagram-Baddie closet staple. As they continue to pop up in various colors and styles, and on different boutique pages, I figured it was time to pull out my very own "vintage" version, stolen from my aunt's closet and probably older than I am.
The trick when working with an over-the-top or elaborate pattern such as this, is to pair it with "basics." Y'all know how I feel about that term. Since spandex is pretty much a closet staple and has evolved into a growing trend, it seemed appropriate. Plus, it's super comfortable and super easy to work with. The spandex shorts are a bit on the thicker side, so not as sheer as some of the trendier styles (side-eye), and can stretch as high or as low as desired.
I've found that bralettes are a great way to spice up an outfit, or even help transition certain pieces from season to season. I layered this sheer bralette over a plain black bra, for a less-lingerie, more-crop top vibe.
I've been seeing red lately, and I can't help it. It's EVERYWHERE. Red is definitely the color of the season, and finding new ways to incorporate the trend into my wardrobe is proving to be an exciting challenge. I went through a brief red phase in high school that left me scarred, and I haven't looked back since. But when I saw a pair of red suede booties on Instagram, chile, the spirit took hold of me and wouldn't let go! I HAD to have these in my closet ASAP.
By the time I had the shirt, the spandex and the booties on, I had a LOOK honey. Rule #4 to dress for success? COMMIT to the look. And that I did. I threw on a few chunky rings, a leather and gold necklace AND a black and gold chain classic purse to balance these thick-frame Versace sunglasses, because duh.
How's that for commitment?
