I can't lie to you guys, I'm super excited for fall. Maybe it's because I'm a fall baby, but I always feel like I'm in my prime when the leaves start to fall. Although it's still pretty hot here in NY, I decided I'd channel some fall energy and go for a pre-fall inspired look today.
As a 9-5er (or something like that....who really sticks to those hours these days?), I sometimes struggle with finding outfits for the office that are appropriate but still interesting and really cute. So taking note from my favorite blog for color inspiration, Versicolor Closet, I decided to add some color into my work wardrobe.
I love the look of something soft against something tough, which makes this skirt one of my favorites. It's a typical structured, black pencil skirt, but it has this beautiful watercolor-like floral print on the front of it. I love the hints of light blue, purple, pink and tan. This piece is a literal transition into fall: the dark black base with subtle hints of the summer we're leaving behind.
I usually pair this skirt with a purple blazer or cardigan, or a black or white blouse, but I decided to do something a little unexpected. I decided to reinforce the hints of blue-green in the floral print skirt and pair it with a mint blue top. Since the skirt does feature a high-waist, a cropped sweater was perfect to do just that. Although this cropped top is a sweater, the short sleeves and light color make it the perfect transitional piece! It's also not super thick but is super soft!
