I’ve been focusing a lot on video content lately (see Video page for all the sauce"), but considering it’s officially Fall and MY season, I think it’s time we get back to our roots and do more style posts!
I drew up this design in my mind. I wanted a velvet biker short with an exposed zip at the back (you can’t see it, but it’s gold) and a matching long, flare-sleeved crop top. I specifically chose green velvet because it’s one of my favorite colors for Fall, so strong and yet, can also be very ethereal. I love playing around with textures in the Fall, so the mix of velvet and snakeskin was too hard of a bargain to pass up. Read More
Last weekend I attended a party as a guest of a friend. It was a chance to see a really great band that I’ve been dying to see so I really took the opportunity to dress up! Read More
This Sunday I took a trip to the movies with a friend. I wanted to be comfortable, but still well-put together and chic. The draped high-low top is a huge trend this season, so I decided to try it out with this top from MadRag. Read More
Last week I had the honor of attending and assisting with the Anniversary Gala of the Association des Ingénieurs Haïtiens et Américains (AIDHA), or Association of Haitian and American Engineers, with my best friend as a guests of the Chairman and his wife. As a Haitian- American, it was such an honor to be able to attend the gala. Since I was technically working and this was a weekday event in the early evening, I opted for a midi-length dress. It was a friend of mine’s birthday recently so a bunch of our friends came together for dinner at this amazing Jamaican restaurant in Brooklyn called Footprints. Footprints is actually a chain of restaurants in different parts of Brooklyn that everyone raves about so I was so excited to finally get to go!
Coco Note: I had the rasta pasta with oxtail, it changed my life. Read More
It’s Gala season!
I had the pleasure of attending the Haitian- Americans United for Progress (HAUP), Inc 39th Annual Anniversary Gala this past weekend, the first of the season!. It was a big deal for me, since I’ve working with the organization for almost 10 years and I was the emcee for last year’s gala!
I opted for a midi-length dress instead of a floor length gown. I’ve had this dress sitting in my closer for a few months now and I thought this event would be the perfect time to wear it. Read More
As it gets cooler and the mornings get darker, I find myself drawn to darker and thicker fabrics. Let’s call this look “Refined Grunge.”
When I think of grunge, I think dark colors and faded denim. Believe it or not, these jeans were once black. While some see faded black jeans as a negative, I love the semi-worn look, especially for an outfit like this. The slightly graying seams almost looks purposely done. And you don’t have to spend money on an expensive pair of jeans to get this look…..just wash your black jeans a few times!
Coco Note: I’m serious. Read More
Today’s ‘fit was the perfect way to usher in the autumn season. Since I’m not quite ready for boot season yet and I’m an all-year-round sweater weather kinda girl, I opted for this light throw-and-go dress. Read More
Last Day of Summer.
Today’s outfit was built around the main focus, this black and white striped midi skirt. While horizontal striped can be tricky (they can make you look wider!), I decided I wanted to play on the pattern and colors of this bodycon skirt. I knew I wanted to go for the same stripe detailing on top, but I didn’t want to overwhelm myself with thick lines. By using a top (it’s actually a dress!) with thinner black stripes and thick white stripes, I made this outfit a little bit easier on the eyes. Read More
