I’m going to keep it all the way real with you guys. I’m a real woman.
Meaning, I have real, regular woman responsibilities, that don’t always allow me to explore modern day trends on a daily basis.
Translation? I’m over the spandex, neon, unrealistic fashion trends.
I don’t know about y’all, but I certainly cannot fill my wardrobe with leggings and cropped sweatshirts. As a working woman with multiple jobs, I need a wardrobe that fits my style AND my lifestyle. Which is exactly why I prefer to focus on pieces that are easy to wear and feature neutral tones or prints. This makes them super easy to pair with my more…dramatic pieces, giving my wardrobe versatility and practicality. Remember, we want to be fabulous AND functional.
In today’s look, I’m kissing cousins once again! If you’ve been following this blog for a while, you know that I follow two simple rules for mixing prints as a beginner, which I call kissing cousins. Check it out in some of my previous posts of kissing cousins below!
For this particular look, since it’s going to be a pretty long day and I have many places to go, I’m choosing to my go-to neutral color palette, black and white, and mixing prints using 2 different prints in the same colors.
Using this method makes it easy for me to quickly and effortlessly put together a stylish and functional look. Combining two prints in varying sizes creates depth within the look, but if you’re a bigger you may not want to have drastic differences in sizes just yet!
I added a chunky bib necklace and buttoned my blouse all the way up, channeling West Coast rap vibes, and paired the look with leather booties that feature a silver studded detail around the front. Simple details like these are what turn a look into a LEWK. When accessorizing, think about what VIBE you’re going for, and what details or pieces you can add to create that vibe.
