Y'all. How did we get here?
"It was all good, just a week ago."
Let's back-track. Last Thursday I launched a marketing agency. My first real business was introduced to the world and I couldn't have been happier. I planned every last detail of the event and every last detail of the company. Every word written on the website, every service offered, every video edited. It is one of my biggest accomplishments.
The party was perfect. Everything came out exactly as I wanted and hoped. The bartender was phenomenal, the food was amazing and the DJ had everyone doing a little more than a two-step. I presented videos about our company, our staff and 6 of our projects without a hitch! I remembered every detail, didn't stumble and didn't have a script to look at. I performed.
I was on a high and nobody could tell me "NOTHIN'!" But it didn't last very long.
As of February 1, 2017, I resigned from my position as Co-Founder and from all of my services as a consultant under the umbrella of that marketing agency. I know, how short-lived.
I owe it to myself and my brand to always speak truth to power and be true to myself. As young women in business, it's highly likely that you'll encounter people who believe they can manipulate, overpower or control you. Don't ever let anyone or any situation make you believe that you are not in control of your life and your decisions. There's no such thing as squandering an opportunity that isn't mutually beneficial. Keep it pushing, then push through.
"Congratulations, you played yourself" *DJ Khaled voice*
Here are a few of my takeaways from this situation:
I might be young, but I ain't dumb.
Don't ever count me out.
Nobody out-popes Pope.
Play all your cards. Life will deal you a new hand anyway.
I have never been afraid of starting over and I am excited for the possibilities ahead. I'm all about moment, so we're not taking a break. You know the saying, "key to life, keep a bag coming." If you're wondering what I'll be doing professionally, head over here.
We gon' be alright!
